Preventing child abuse is "everyone's responsibility," stresses Mónica Seidi
The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security stated this week that preventing and fighting child abuse is "everyone's responsibility," adding that the Regional Government has two new measures already in progress. The announcement was made in Ponta Delgada at the closing session of the Month for the Prevention of Child Abuse, organised by the Azores Commissioner's Office for Childhood. Mónica Seidi mentioned the presentation of the "Not all ties are family" campaign, scheduled for May, as part of the 4th Regional Plan for the Fight against Domestic Violence. As part of the same Plan, adapted to the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Guideline no. 1/2022 from the Directorate-General for Health will be presented, which concerns action in domestic violence situations involving adults and the clinical record of violence among adults. It will facilitate the identification of children exposed to domestic violence. "The fight against child abuse has to continue every day of the year," she said. April is the month for the prevention of abuse. Several initiatives were carried out in the Azores, starting with the child and youth protection commissions in conjunction and collaboration with local authorities, and the lighting of public spaces throughout municipalities in shades of blue. According to the official report, 3,160 cases involving 2,949 children/young people were filed with the 19 protection commissions.

mySaúde Açores app already reached half of registration target set until September
Three months after its launch, the mySaúde Azores app and portal have already surpassed 12 thousand registrations, reaching almost half of the registration target set by September. The figures exceed expectations and reflect not only the strong response shown by the Azorean population but also the commitment of health professionals to be an active part of the pioneering project to modernise the Regional Health Service. The mySaúde Açores app was officially launched on January 28, following a testing phase carried out in December by professionals from the São Miguel Island Health Unit. Initially, the features focused on appointment requests, teleconsultations and access to the user's main health data. In less than three months, new features have been added, namely the possibility of issuing attendance statements, requesting the renewal of chronic prescriptions and synchronising appointments with the mobile phone calendar. Originally, these features were only available for health centres. On April 10, the Horta Hospital joined the network, becoming the first hospital to do so, a milestone that justifies the fact that Faial is currently the island with the highest percentage of registered users. With the planned integration of the hospitals of Terceira and São Miguel, on dates to be announced shortly, an even more significant increase in the number of users is expected. Over these first three months, citizens' response has been crucial to improving mySaúde Açores. Among the most praised features is the possibility of associating several user profiles with a single telephone number, allowing caregivers to manage appointments and prescriptions for children, parents or grandparents, making it easier to monitor family members who have difficulties using technology. New features are planned for the coming months, reinforcing the commitment to improving access to health care for all Azoreans and overcoming the challenges posed by remoteness. The mySaúde Açores app has Siemens Healthineers as its technological partner and is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
