Welcome to the Regional Directorate for Housing page!
The Regional Directorate for Housing (DRH) is the entity entrusted with the study, coordination, supervision and implementation of housing actions in accordance with the Regional Government's goals and in close collaboration with local authorities, public utility institutions, private entities or cooperatives, with a view to creating better housing conditions for the population.
It is the responsibility of the DRH to:
- Study, propose and implement housing policy measures for the Region;
- Propose uses for land classified as suitable for urban development and arrange for its acquisition;
- Study and propose measures aimed at restructuring the housing sector in the Region to meet its needs;
- Collaborate with any entity that may contribute to the implementation of the housing policy defined by the Regional Government on a permanent or temporary basis, especially with municipalities, voluntary organisations and non-profit associations, to which it may provide technical support or other types of support to be defined;
- Promote, in conjunction with other services, the study of housing legislation, with a view to drawing up concrete legislative proposals.

Public tender opened for renovation of multi-family properties in Ribeirinha parish, São Miguel
The public tender is now open for the refurbishment and energy efficiency improvement of two multi-family properties in the Rua do Jogo housing development located in the parish of Ribeirinha, municipality of Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Island. The tender was launched with a base price of €2.1 million, financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), and a completion period of 150 days, according to the opening notice published in the Official Journal. Proposals must be submitted by November 26 via the electronic platform www.acingov.pt. The intervention includes demolition works, waterproofing and insulation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, telecommunications infrastructures, plumbing and pipework in buildings, carpentry, plastering, painting and other coatings. The two multi-family properties in the Rua do Jogo development comprise a total of 94 multi-family apartments. At the moment, 349 housing responses are underway in the Azores, including construction, renovation and development of plots for transfer, involving an investment of about €50 million financed under the RRP.

Public tender for allocation of housing in Ginetes on lease with purchase option scheme to open on October 1
The public tender for the allocation of five new houses under a lease with purchase option scheme will open on October 1. The houses were built by the Region in the parish of Ginetes in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, under the Recovery and Resilience Plan for the Azores, representing an investment of €945,000. According to the Order of the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, Maria João Carreiro, published today in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, interested parties must submit their applications between October 1 and November 14 of this year. Applications must be submitted by completing the appropriate form, available on the Regional Directorate for Housing (DRH) website at https://portal.azores.gov.pt/web/drh/concursos. They should be accompanied by the documents listed in Article 7 of the Regulations on the Lease with Purchase Option Scheme and submitted in one of the following formats: DRH Services, located at Rua Dr. João Francisco de Sousa, no. 30, 9500-187 Ponta Delgada; RIAC - Integrated Citizen Support Network Offices; Registered post with acknowledgement of receipt to the Regional Housing Directorate, located at Rua Dr. João Francisco de Sousa, n.º 30, 9500-187 Ponta Delgada; DRH email address - [email protected]. The Regulations, which contain all the information about the procedures and conditions for accessing and allocating housing, are available for consultation on the DRH website. The five new houses, all of them three-bedroom houses, are built on plots nos. 1, 2, 3, 6 and 9 of the Rua Antero de Moniz Viveiros neighbourhood in the parish of Ginetes. They are intended for the permanent residence of applicants and their families. The purchase option can only be exercised by the tenant one year after signing the lease agreement. Any requests for clarification on the understanding and interpretation of the Regulations and the Order should be addressed to the president of the jury and submitted by the interested parties in writing to the DRH Services in Ponta Delgada and the corresponding services of the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment. Alternatively, they should be sent to the email address [email protected] no later than October 24, 2025. Requests will be answered within a maximum of three working days from the date on which they are received.
