Nuno António de Bettencourt Gomes holds a degree in Theology from the Portuguese Catholic University.
He has held the position of Education Inspector at the Regional Inspectorate of Education since 2003.
He is a social judge at the Ponta Delgada Juvenile and Family Court of the Judicial District of the Azores.
He is the representative of the Portuguese Confederation of Volunteering (CVP) in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
He is a member of the General Assembly of the Union of Education Inspectors (SIEE).
He was a trainer at the Training Centre of the Association of São Miguel and Santa Maria Schools.
He taught at the Institute of Catholic Culture - Angra do Heroísmo Diocese and was a member of the Diocesan Support Service for Religious Education at School (SDAPE).
He served as president of the Vincentian Conference of the parish of Nossa Senhora de Fátima.
He served as vice-president of the board of the São José Social Welfare Parish Centre in Ponta Delgada.
He was a volunteer at the Institute for University Solidarity and Cooperation (ISU) between 1992 and 1998, providing support to foreign university students in Portugal.
In addition to his professional duties, he has been very active in the area of social volunteering and has delivered several lectures on the island of São Miguel.
