Government launches "JUVENTUDE.AZORES" roadmap to promote employment, mobility and volunteering opportunities for young people
The "JUVENTUDE.AZORES – Get to know your DRJ!" roadmap kicks off on Wednesday, June 4, on the island of Pico. This is an initiative promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Youth (DRJ). The guide intends to promote and present to young Azoreans, through interactive sessions, programmes and measures to support youth associations, creativity and innovation, entrepreneurship, mobility, leisure activities, training and volunteering, for example. The "JUVENTUDE.AZORES" roadshow will visit all the islands in the Region. On each island and/or municipality, in the case of the islands of São Miguel and Terceira, two different sessions will be organised, one for young people and the other for public and private entities, including private social solidarity institutions, private law associations and other organisations eligible for submitting and promoting projects under the various programmes and measures. The opening session of the "JUVENTUDE.AZORES" roadmap will take place at the Lajes do Pico Basic Education and Secondary School, starting at 10:30 a.m., in a joint session for young people and entities. Maria João Carreiro, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, explains that this initiative is part of a strategy to "disseminate youth information" and "help young people become more aware of and involved in the various programmes and measures promoted by the Regional Directorate for Youth." "Our goal is to bring information to young people, from a perspective of encouraging and stimulating participation in different programmes, without forgetting the need to raise awareness among organisations about project submissions, as some programmes effectively depend on the willingness of organisations to welcome and integrate young people," she explained. According to the government official, the "JUVENTUDE.AZORES" roadmap is inspired by the Azores Youth portal, available at juventude.azores.gov.pt, launched in March 2023. It has brought new possibilities for communication and interaction with young people in the Azores.
