The Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity (DRSS) is the service of the Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity whose mission is to propose, coordinate and assess the Regional Government's policies on solidarity, volunteering and equal opportunities, contributing to a more cohesive and inclusive Region.
In this effort to expand and improve social support measures, through the implementation of social intervention policies and the improvement of services and equipment, the DRSS relies on the collaboration of regional public institutes with jurisdiction in social security and solidarity matters. Additionally, it counts on the collaboration of all Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) and other entities promoting equal opportunities.
We want to continue providing the best responses to the needs of Azoreans, and in this context the Regional Network of Social Infrastructures and Responses was created in the Azores bearing in mind the needs of people and families.

Generations in Movement programme will continue to contribute to greater social cohesion and inclusion, stresses Mónica Seidi
The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, chaired the delivery of six new electric vehicles to social institutions this Tuesday, as part of the Generations in Movement (GERMOV) programme. Accompanied by the Regional Director for Social Solidarity, Andreia Vasconcelos, the event, held at Nonagon in Lagoa, was also attended by representatives of Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS), who received the vehicles. The Nossa Senhora da Oliveira Social and Parish Centre, the Portuguese Association for Developmental Disorders and Autism - Azores (APPDA-Açores), the Casa do Povo de Santo António, Cáritas de São Miguel, Casa do Povo de Fenais da Ajuda and the Atalhada Social and Cultural Centre were the recipients of these new vehicles. "The Regional Government will continue to support these institutions, recognising their significant value for the most vulnerable members of our society," stressed Mónica Seidi, who will be responsible for Social Security in this legislative term. "The Regional Government is demonstrating its commitment to ensuring that institutions like the ones here will continue to be supported and that successful solidarity programmes will continue to exist," she continued. Each of these entities will use the equipment provided according to their social needs, whether it be transporting users between their homes and day centres or even the Home Support Service, for therapeutic activities or other activities appropriate to their condition and age group, as these institutions support the elderly, children and people with disabilities, young people and homeless people. "This is also one of the moments when we move towards one of the goals of this Government, being in line with the ecological concerns of the European Union," she said. GERMOV intends to strengthen the Regional Government's support for IPSS, Misericórdias (charities) and similar organisations, which make up the social solidarity network of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and contribute to greater social cohesion and inclusion of the different groups.

Regional Government invests in inclusion policy with increased response capacity in Flores
The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Health and Social Security, "wants to make Azorean society ever more inclusive, creating better conditions for those who need it most," emphasised the Regional Secretary, Mónica Seidi. In this regard, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia das Lajes das Flores has launched a public tender for the construction of the Specialised Day Centre for disabled users and inclusive Free Time Activity Centre (CATL) in Lajes das Flores, as part of a global investment by the Regional Secretariat for Health and Social Solidarity, through the Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity. The aim is to increase the response for disability in the municipality of Lajes das Flores, with a new capacity for 20 users in the CATL and 15 users in the specialised day centre. The works contract has a stipulated completion period of 15 months. This initiative reflects the Regional Government's investment in increasing vacancies in inclusive CATLs and specialised day centres, thus achieving an installed capacity tailored to existing needs. With this initiative, the Regional Government intends to continue implementing quality social responses and support for all Azorean citizens under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
