The RAEGE project aims at building a network of 4 key geodetic stations for radio astronomy, geodesia and geophysics.
On 29 April 2010, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of the Azores (GRA), through the Regional Secretary for Science, Technology and Equipment (SRCTE), and the National Geographical Institute (IGN) of the Ministry of Fostering of the Government of Spain, represented by its Director General, D. Alberto Sereno Alvarez, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation and the establishment of an Atlantic network of geodinamyc stations, with a view to the establishment of a Geographic and Geographic Development Programme (RAEGE).
Both sides agreed on the joint management and coordination of all scientific and technical activities to be carried out in both stations.

The Association RAEGE Azores — the Atlantic Network of Geographical and Space Stations (RAEGE-Az) is a non-profit, scientific, technological and training private law association between the Regional Government of the Azores and SATA Air Açores, set up on 20/07/2017 with the goal of manage, administer and coordinate all scientific and technical activities to be carried out in the key geodetic stations of the network in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
