On May 25, 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force, approved by Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679, of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union, of 27 April, which came to establish rules on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data.
The GDPR introduces a set of new rules, namely the obligation to designate a data protection officer, changing the rules on obtaining consent, the elimination of notifications and authorizations, the implementation of the right to be forgotten, the introduction of fines of value very high and information obligations regarding breaches of security.
Thus, under the terms of paragraph a) of no. 1 and no. 6 of article 37 of the GDPR, the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism (SREAT) designated as the person in charge of data protection Dr.ª Ana Cláudia Monteiro Leal, legal advisor to the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, for having recognized the professional qualities and skills necessary to perform the inherent functions.
