On May 25, 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), approved by the Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679, of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, of April 27, came into force establishing the rules concerning the protection of singular persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data.
The GDPR introduces a set of new rules, namely the obligation to designate a data protection officer, changes to the rules on obtaining consent, the elimination of notifications and authorizations, the implementation of the right to be forgotten, the introduction of very high fines, and information obligations regarding security breaches.
Therefore, in accordance with paragraph a) of number 1, and number 6 of article 37 of the GDPR, the Office of the Regional Undersecretary and dependent services appointed Raquel Cordeiro de Amaral as data protection officer, according to Order No. 1916/2023 of October 19.
