A native of the Azores, he is 31 years old and holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (School of Engineering), Technical University of Lisbon.
As a university student, he actively participated in academic life, having been Vice-President of the Educational Council and a Member of the School Council of the Instituto Superior Técnico. After completing his university studies, he was a fellow at the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion working on the design and analysis of diagnostic components for nuclear fusion reactors in Europe. He is the co-author of scientific papers in this field and supervisor of Master's theses, having taught at the Instituto Superior Técnico under the Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering degree programme.
He pursued his career in the industry, collaborating with several technological companies. He worked in project management of urban mobility systems, production management of electronic systems and batteries, and, subsequently, in the area of energy production and industrial maintenance.
He joined the Portuguese Space Agency in 2021, carrying out project management duties in the field of space transportation and access to space. He is also involved in the development and analysis of opportunities in the national and international space sector, supervising activity licensing, financing and strategic definition processes in space access projects, such as launchers, propulsion systems and stratospheric platforms.
In the context of the Portuguese Space Agency's educational component, he took part in the organisation of the European Rocketry Challenge, being responsible for the technical jury of the competition.
