29-08-2016 — signed between the European Space Agency (ESA), the Portuguese State and the Government of the Azores, the principles for the installation on the island of Santa Maria of a 15-metre antenna transferred for satellite tracking, deactivated in Australia due to the non-renewal by the Australian authorities of the use of the frequencies necessary for the respective operations.
The support of the Regional Government of the Azores for this project consisted of the construction of the infrastructure which serves as a basis for the antenna and its transfer, as well as the land on which it is located, to the Portuguese Space Agency, in accordance with Government Council Resolution No 108/2019 of 14 October 2006.
