Born in São José - Ponta Delgada on November 20, 1952.
Degree in Finance from the School of Economics of the Technical University of Lisbon.
Senior technician at the National Board of Livestock Products of the Ministry of Agriculture in Lisbon (1975-1980), Member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Services for Agri-livestock Products in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (1980-1983), Director of Trade Services at the Regional Secretariat for Trade and Industry of the Government of the Azores (1983-1984), Regional Director for the Treasury of the III Regional Government of the Azores (1984-1988), Regional Director for Transport and Communications of the IV Regional Government of the Azores (1988-1991), President of the General Assembly of Sociedade Geotérmica dos Açores - SOGEO (1991-1994), Director of Empresa de Eletricidade dos Açores - EDA (1991-1994), President of the Board of Directors of SATA Air Açores (1994-1995) and Regional Secretary for Finance and Public Administration of the VI Regional Government of the Azores (1995-1996).
She served as Mayor of Ponta Delgada (2002-2012) and as President of PSD/Açores (2008-2012). She was also a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (1996-2001 and 2012-2013) and a member of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic (2015-2019). She also served as Assistant Secretary of State and of National Defence (2013-2015) and as Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures of the XIII Government of the Azores (2022-2024).
Since March 4, 2024, she has been the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures of the XIV Government of the Azores.
