Luís Carlos Medeiros Couto de Sousa holds a Master's Degree in Sports Sciences, specialising in High Performance Training. He graduated in Physical Education, having also completed the Football Coach Course - Level 4 from the Portuguese Football Federation (F.P.F.).
Currently, and since April 5, 2003, he is a Senior Technician at the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, working at the Federated Sports Section. He is responsible for the Management of the Olympic and Paralympic Preparation Programmes.
He has collaborated, on a part-time basis, with the Portuguese Football Federation at the Football and Training Department in the "Sports Management Consultant" category since February 1, 2006.
He worked as a temporary teacher at Casa Pia de Lisboa - Stª Clara and Maria Pia sections (February 1, 1982 - February 28, 1983).
He worked as a temporary teacher at Angra do Heroísmo Basic Education School (1984 -1988).
He taught at Angra do Heroísmo Basic Education School as a tenured teacher on provisional registration (1988 -1989).
He taught at Angra do Heroísmo Basic Education School as a tenured teacher on full registration (1988 -1999).
He headed the Culture, Sports and Leisure Section of Angra do Heroísmo City Council, which included the Municipal Sports Park.
He was the Technical Director of Angra do Heroísmo Football Association (May 8, 1998 - August 31, 2001).
He was a Senior Technician at the Lisbon Office of the Portuguese Institute of Sport (September 1, 2002 - April 4, 2003).
