Luís Miguel Braga Estrela was born in Rabo de Peixe on March 27, 1983.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
He holds a degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from the Department of Agrarian Sciences at the University of the Azores.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
From January 2021 until 2024, he headed the São Miguel Agrarian Development Service, where he performed the following functions:
- General coordinator of the working group on the Strategy for the Development of Organic Agriculture and the Action Plan for the Production and Promotion of Organic Agricultural Products in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (Order no. 375/2021 of February 24);
- Participation in the work on the "Strategic Plan for Horticulture" (Report presented in November 2021).
- Coordinator of the implementation group for the plan to review the functionalities of the Island Agrarian Development Services of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development (Order 2850/2021 of December 2021);
- Participation in the organising committee of the Azores Beekeeping Forum, held in São Miguel in March 2022;
- Coordinator of the Azores Agricultural Fair in São Miguel in June 2022;
- Permanent representative in the Recognition Group for the ownership, use and management of Agricultural Parcels (Order 2510/2022 of December 2022).
From 2006 to 2021, he headed the Production Department at the company F.L.E. Esp. & Filhos Lda.
In 2010, he designed and built a hydroponic NFT production unit, a pioneering technique in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Between 2011 and 2013, he served as Vice-President of Terra Verde - Azores Agricultural Producers' Association.
From 2010 to 2018, he was the Technical Manager at Agro Maçanita, Lda.
