João Miguel Palma Guerreiro Lança was born in Lisbon on June 24, 1970.
He holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the School of Agriculture of the Technical University of Lisbon and a Master's degree in Agronomic Engineering from the School of Agriculture of the Technical University of Lisbon.
He has been Technical Adviser for Regional Affairs (Azores) to the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union in Brussels since September 1, 2014.
He was appointed President of the Board of the Institute for Food and Agricultural, a position equivalent to Regional Director, on January 23, 2013. Previously, he had been a Member of the Board of the Institute for Food and Agricultural Markets, a position equivalent to Deputy Director-General, between February 2000 and May 2007 and between December 2007 and January 22, 2013.
He is a Senior Technician at the Planning Office of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Regional Government of the Azores.
