Rosa Maria Carreiro Machado Costa holds a degree in Hotel Management from the Estoril Hotel and Tourism School (2003).
From March to December 2020, she was the Executive Director and Administrator of Pousadas de Juventude dos Açores - Azores Youth Hostels.
In 2018 and 2019, she provided advice on projects developed in the areas of accommodation, tourist entertainment and tourism operations. She also served as adviser for Tourism to the Ponta Delgada City Council.
She held the position of Technical and Commercial Director at the company Futurismo Azores Adventures (tourist animation company) from 2009 to 2018.
Since 2006, she has been involved in vocational training in the area of tourism in several vocational training schools. She also organised and led, as Chief Expert, the Euroskills, Portugal Skills and Azores Skills competitions in the Hotel Reception category from 2009 to 2015.
She held the position of Assistant Director at the Marina Atlântico and Açores Atlântico Hotels (Bensaúde group) from 2003 to 2008.
