BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Filipe Torres Tavares was born on December 14, 1985, in São José, Ponta Delgada.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon - Instituto Superior Técnico (School of Engineering).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
In December 2008, he joined the company Ferrovial Agromán as a Site Engineer in the construction works of the Azores Toll-free Road - North Axis, working in the production of structures, namely in the production of viaducts using prefabricated variable height voussoirs. While in this position, he was responsible for the analysis of implementation projects as well as the planning and monitoring of work programmes. Later, between January 2011 and December 2011, he was involved in the production of drinking water reservoirs and respective piping networks due to the impact caused by the construction of the Azores Toll-free road on water supply services.
In January 2012, he was invited by the company Ferrovial Agromán to take part in the I-635 ML Project in Dallas, Texas, USA, with a budget of $2.1B. From January 2012 to September 2015, he worked as a Site Engineer, working on the construction of viaducts, retaining walls, drainage systems (using a tunneller), prestressed aqueducts and networks in the road lighting system. He was responsible for the analysis of implementation projects as well as the monitoring of the construction project design and respective costs.
From September 2015 to February 2019, while still at Ferrovial Agromán, he became Production Director for the I-35W ML project in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, with a budget of $ 1.6B. He was responsible for cost forecasting and control; monitoring the tendering and awarding process; planning and monitoring the construction project design programme;
In February 2019, he became Site Manager for the I-35W extension - segment 3C project in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, with a budget of $900M. As such, he was responsible for all activities related to construction management, namely cost forecasting and control; drafting of work plans and quantity charts; development of construction plans and methods; and monitoring of the tendering and awarding process.
In January 2020, he returned to São Miguel, Azores, where he joined the Regional Directorate for Transport, working as a Senior Technician in the area of air transport. He was also responsible for supervising and monitoring the executive and financial progress of investments underway in the different aerodromes operated by SATA Gestão de Aeródromos (SGA).
He has served as Regional Directorate for Forest Resources of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development since January 2021, according to order 65/2021 of January 13, 2021.
