Heraldic Symbols
Flag, Coat of Arms, Seal and Anthem
The Regional Decree no. 4/79/A of April 10 established the Flag, Coat of arms, Seal and Regional Anthem as the heraldic symbols of the Azores. This decree declared that the symbols of the Autonomous Region of the Azores deserve the reverence of the Azorean people and the respect of everyone in the Region.
Furthermore, the Regional Legislative Decree no. 21/2006/A of June 7 determined that any use of the flag, coat of arms and seal of the Autonomous Region of the Azores for commercial or advertising purposes must be authorised by the Regional Government.
The use of the Regional Anthem for commercial or advertising purposes is prohibited.
