The provision of consistent and systematic statistical information is one of the fundamental aspects for the economic and social development of any Country or Region.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the Regional Statistics Service, whose authority is conferred by the SEN (National Statistical System) Law, has as its mission to collect, process and make available to users the necessary and reliable statistical information for decision-making, public debate and research.
Under the administration of the Regional Secretariat for Finance, Planning and Public Administration, SREA also operates as a branch of the National Statistics Institute, contributing to the production of all national statistics in the Region.
In addition to the main office in Angra do Heroísmo, the Regional Statistics Service also comprises the São Miguel and Faial offices, which contribute to the production and dissemination of regional official statistics and play an important role for the users of statistical information on these islands.
The SREA website, https://srea.azores.gov.pt/, delivers all the information released on a regular basis, allowing users to quickly access the available data, and includes the portal http://www.siemac.org/siemac/pt/index.html, alongside the Statistics Institutes of Madeira and the Canary Islands.
