Amâncio Gonçalves Machado de Faria e Maia was born in Ponta Delgada on March 15, 1963. He completed his secondary education (12th grade) and has professional training, including a Teaching Course from the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) with a training upgrade at the Oliveira Martins Foundation. He has training in IT, systems and programming at IBM – International Business Machine Corporation. He also holds three Microsoft certifications in Windows Server, SQL Server and Visual .NET. He has obtained seven IBM-SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) certifications in the field of statistics.
He was part of the team that set up the IT department at the former Azores Vocational Training Centre, where he worked as a trainer and coordinator.
He was responsible for implementing the Administration and Commerce area at the Azores Vocational Training Centre, and later became coordinator of the same area.
He was part of the team that created the Employment and Vocational Training Observatory, overseeing the development of the IT support system.
He was a member of the team at the Statistics Office of the Regional Directorate for Vocational Training and Employment.
He currently serves as Coordinator of the Employment and Vocational Training Observatory. He is also the focal point of the Cabinet of the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment for dependent services concerning the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Additionally, he is the second secretary of the Board of the Association for the Economic Development of the Azores.
