Rute Isabel Rodrigues Dias Gregório Regional Director
Biographical Note

Rute Isabel Rodrigues Dias Gregório is a Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciencies in the University of the Azores, and a Integrated Researcher for CHAM – Centre for the Humanities, an FCT accredited inter-university research unity of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA FCSH) and of the University of the Azores (UAç).

Achieved professionalisation of teaching for secondary school, in the subject of History, in 1992-1993. Concluded the Educational Aptitude and Scientific Capacity Tests in 1998 and earned her PhD in History in 2006. Has a post-graduation in Documentary and Information Sciences from the University of Azores (2008) and a Master's in Documentary Science from the University of Alcalá de Henares (2011).

Appointment Order

Was the director of Ponta Delgada's Public Library and Regional Archive from 2011 to 2017 and the Director of the University of Azores' Library, Museum and Archive from 2017 to 2018.

Served the Legislative Assembly of the Azores, on a replacement basis, from 2018to 2019. Was the President of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of the Azores from 2021 to 2023 and served as Vice-Dean of Alumni and Cultural Projects for the same University, from 2023 to 2024.

Her main themes of research focus on the Economic and Social History of the XV and XVI centuries, on the History of the Azores (XV-XVI centuries) and on Historical Archivistics (XV-XX). Was the main researcher and member of various research teams responsible for projects with public funding and also supervises several doctoral theses.
