First Azores 2030 calls for Research and Development published
The scientific capacity for research and innovation has profound socio-economic impacts. The regions that stand out for their investment in a scientific system based on merit and demand, supported by competitive and transparent processes, are those that have greater resilience in the face of adversity and greater competitiveness in the future, in the various economic sectors. Strengthening the Autonomous Region of the Azores in SR&I (Science, Research and Innovation) is, essentially, a calculated investment in the capacity of the Region as a whole.
The Regional Directorate for Science and Technology (DRCT) has the mission of ensuring the legal and technical conditions to promote the Azores as a knowledge-based society, leveraged on the foundations of fundamental and applied scientific research, innovation and digital transition.
In developing its skills, the DRCT uses, among others, mechanisms such as the allocation of advanced training grants; the promotion of the stability of research teams through the hiring of researchers; the integration of Research Centers and researchers from the Scientific and Technological System of the Azores in international research and innovation networks; the promotion of Science in general, through actions and dissemination projects to be carried out in Science Centers; the financing or co-financing of programs and projects for scientific research, experimental development, innovation and technological modernization.
