The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, reiterated on Thursday the Government's commitment to cooperation with local authorities, recalling that the parishes, specifically, represent "greater proximity between elected representatives and voters."
José Manuel Bolieiro signed a cooperation agreement between the Government and the parish of Ribeirinha in Ribeira Grande, ensuring that the Government is committed to guaranteeing "predictability and stability" in the relations with all the parishes of the Azores.
The President of the Government highlighted the "dynamics" and the "ability to aggregate" demonstrated by the Mayor of the Parish Council of Ribeirinha, Marco Furtado. On the occasion, he added that the visit made last Thursday makes Ribeirinha the "host parish" of the Regional Government's visits to this end as well as of the cooperation between several entities.
The 7th Regional Meeting of Mayors of the Azores took place last weekend in Ponta Delgada.
The XIII Government of the Azores has created in its organisational structure the Regional Directorate for Cooperation with Local Government, with a view to ensuring greater proximity in the relations between the various entities and the central government.
