Regional Government committed to implementing environmental sustainability policies in agriculture - Communication

The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development, through the Regional Directorate for Agriculture, has supported the inspection of sprayers on all the islands of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, covering a total of 283 devices. 

The inspections were carried out as a result of the commitment made by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, António Ventura, who is focused, as always, on the implementation of environmental sustainability policies in agriculture.

These initiatives contribute to the implementation of policies aimed at the sustainable use of plant protection products, with a view to reducing the risk and impact on human health and the environment. 

This action was addressed at all farmers who own this type of equipment, which is subject by law to a periodic inspection scheme applicable to plant protection product application equipment. 
It is also an important management measure for agricultural companies, ensuring efficient application, prolonging the life of the sprayer and, consequently, increasing the profitability of farms.
