President of the Government praises institutional solidarity shown by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa with his visit to São Jorge

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, highlighted on Sunday the "institutional solidarity" shown by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, with his visit to São Jorge to follow up on the seismic crisis on the island.
At an institutional level, José Manuel Bolieiro noted that the visit of the President of the Republic to São Jorge is important as it takes into consideration "humanitarian and solidarity values."
The President of the Azorean Government, who has been on the island since last Thursday, stated that the President of the Republic's visit demonstrates his "readiness to follow and support" the entire development of the seismic crisis situation on the island of São Jorge.
"The State must also take responsibility, as indeed it has taken in every respect," the President of the Government stressed, mentioning the Republic's own resources in terms of Civil Protection and social support as well as the assistance of the Armed Forces.
The President of the Government also assured that he has been in constant contact with the President of the Republic regarding the evolution of the situation.
José Manuel Bolieiro also reiterated that, as far as Civil Protection is concerned, everything must be done to "be prepared for the worst, hoping for the best. This will ensure the effective coordination of all institutions working on the ground in preparation for the situation.
