Last 24 hours:
506 new positive cases of covid-19 were diagnosed, with 164 on the island of São Miguel, 164 on the island of Terceira, 68 on the island of São Jorge, 52 on the island of Faial, 38 on the island of Pico, seven on the island Flores, six on the island of Graciosa, six on the island of Santa Maria and one on the island of Corvo, following 1,912 tests carried out.
Municipalities:
São Miguel Island - 95 in Ponta Delgada, 33 in Ribeira Grande, 14 in Lagoa, 10 in Vila Franca do Campo, six in Povoação and six in Nordeste.
Terceira Island - 85 in Angra do Heroísmo and 79 in Praia da Vitória.
Pico Island - 18 in Madalena, 15 in Lajes and five in São Roque.
São Jorge Island – 56 in Velas and 12 in Calheta.
Flores Island - six in Santa Cruz and one in Lajes.
Graciosa Island - six in Santa Cruz.
Faial Island - 52 in Horta.
Corvo Island - a new positive case.
Recoveries:
A total of 492 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.
Hospitalisations:
As of today, there are 22 patients hospitalised, 14 of them at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital on the island of São Miguel (one in intensive care), three at the Horta Hospital on the island of Faial and five at the Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island.
Deaths:
Two deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, one on the island of Faial and the other on the island of Terceira.
A 99-year-old man died at the Horta Hospital, where he had been hospitalised since February 20. He was a resident of Angústias and was not vaccinated.
Another man, aged 89, died in the Santo Espírito Hospital in Angra do Heroísmo, where he had been hospitalised since March 4. He was a resident of São Brás. He had primary vaccination but had not received the booster dose. He had multiple comorbidities.
Current situation:
The archipelago currently registers 2,916 active positive cases: 1,737 on the island of São Miguel, 615 on the island of Terceira, 180 on the island of Faial, 154 on the island of Pico, 129 on the island of São Jorge, 63 on the island of Graciosa, 25 on the island of Flores, 12 on the island of Santa Maria and one on the island of Corvo.
Vaccination:
From December 31, 2020, to March 8, 2022, 212,367 people in the Azores already have complete primary vaccination (89.8%) and 118,789 people have already received the booster dose (50.2%).
As of today, 6,666 children had been inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine, corresponding to 39.1% of a universe of 17,033 children between the ages of 5 and 11.
