Last 24 hours: 

461 new positive cases of covid-19 were diagnosed, with 222 on the island of São Miguel, 87 on the island of Terceira, 43 on the island of Pico, 43 on the island of Faial, 31 on the island of Graciosa, 14 on the island of São Jorge, 14 on the island of Flores, six on the island of Santa Maria and one on the island of Corvo, following 2,345 tests carried out.   

Municipalities:  

São Miguel Island - 133 in Ponta Delgada, 27 in Ribeira Grande, 27 in Lagoa, 21 in Povoação, 10 in Vila Franca do Campo and four in Nordeste.

Terceira Island - 48 in Angra do Heroísmo and 39 in Praia da Vitória.   

Pico Island - 19 in Madalena, 15 in Lajes and nine in São Roque.   

Faial Island - 43 in Horta.   

Graciosa Island - 31 in Santa Cruz.  

São Jorge Island - nine in Velas and five in Calheta.  

Flores Island - eight in Santa Cruz and six in Lajes.  

Santa Maria Island - six in Vila Porto.  

Corvo Island - a new positive case.   

Recoveries:  

A total of 436 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.   

Deaths:  

Two deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. 

On the island of São Miguel, a 67-year-old man died at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada. He was a resident of Pedreira, municipality of Nordeste, and had been hospitalised since February 5. He was not vaccinated.  

A 76-year-old man also died at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada. He was a resident of Praia de Almoxarife on the island of Faial and had been hospitalised since February 19. He was not vaccinated.   

Hospitalisations:  

As of today, there are 24 patients hospitalised, 12 of them at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital on the island of São Miguel (one in intensive care), six at the Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island and six at the Horta Hospital. 

Current situation: 

The archipelago currently registers 3,941 active positive cases: 2,460 on the island of São Miguel, 602 on the island of Terceira, 316 on the island of Pico, 227 on the island of Faial, 138 on the island of Graciosa, 117 on the island of São Jorge, 50 on the island of Flores, 18 on the island of Corvo and 13 on the island of Santa Maria.  

Vaccination:   

From December 31, 2020, to February 25, 2022, 210,693 people in the Azores already have complete primary vaccination (89.1%) and 117,415 people have already received the booster dose (49.7%).   

As of today, 6,608 children had been inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine, corresponding to 38.8% of a universe of 17,033 children between the ages of 5 and 11.
