Last 24 hours:   

799 new positive cases of covid-19 were diagnosed, with 428 on the island of São Miguel, 230 on the island of Terceira, 39 on the island of Pico, 38 on the island of Faial, 23 on the island of São Jorge, 20 on the island of Graciosa, 14 on the island of Flores and seven on the island of Santa Maria, following 3,126 tests carried out.  

On the island of Sao Miguel, 253 new positive cases were registered in Ponta Delgada, 88 in Ribeira Grande, 46 in Lagoa, 31 in Vila Franca do Campo, seven in Povoação and three in Nordeste.  

The island of Terceira registered 148 new cases in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo and 82 in the municipality of Praia da Vitória. 

The island of Pico registered 18 cases in Lajes, 15 in Madalena and six in São Roque.  

The island of Faial registered 38 new positive cases in the municipality of Horta.

The island of Graciosa registered 20 new positive cases in the municipality of Santa Cruz.

On the island of São Jorge, 15 new positive cases were registered in Velas and eight in Calheta.

On the island of Flores, eight cases were registered in Santa Cruz and six in Lajes.

The island of Santa Maria registered seven new positive cases in the municipality of Vila do Porto.

Hospitalisations:          

As of today, there are 45 patients hospitalised, 32 of them at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital on the island of São Miguel (three in intensive care), 10 at the Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island (two in intensive care) and three at the Horta Hospital (two in intensive care). 

Recoveries:   

A total of 1,407 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Deaths:

In the last 24 hours, three deaths were registered on the island of São Miguel and one on the island of Terceira.

An 80-year-old woman died at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada. She was a resident of São Pedro do Nordestinho, municipality of Nordeste, and had been hospitalised since February 7. She had received a booster dose but had multiple comorbidities. There was also a death of a 66-year-old man, a resident of Santa Clara, municipality of Ponta Delgada, who had been hospitalised since 5 February. He not vaccinated and had multiple comorbidities. There was also a death of a 78-year-old woman, a resident of Arrifes, municipality of Ponta Delgada, who had been hospitalised since February 12. She had received two doses of the vaccine but had multiple comorbidities.

A 90-year-old man died at the Santo Espírito Hospital in Angra do Heroísmo, a resident of Fontinhas, municipality of Praia da Vitória. He had been hospitalised since February 2 and had not been vaccinated.

Current situation:   

The archipelago currently registers 11,602 active positive cases: 9,626 on the island of São Miguel, 1,334 on the island of Terceira, 181 on the island of Faial, 154 on the island of Pico, 124 on the island of Graciosa, 91 on the island of São Jorge, 56 on the island of Santa Maria and 36 on the island of Flores. 

Vaccination:

From December 31, 2020, to February 9, 2022, 209,306 people in the Azores already have complete primary vaccination (88.5%) and 106,335 people have already received the booster dose (45.0%). 

As of today, 6,216 children had been inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine, corresponding to 36.5% of a universe of 17,033 children between the ages of 5 and 11.
