Regional Government extends support to companies under APOIAR.PT Açores - Communication

The Regional Government is preparing the extension of the APOIAR.PT Açores Programme, given the context of the covid-19 pandemic and taking into account the concerns expressed by the regional business sector.    

The Azorean Government, recognising the difficult situation of many companies, has already begun the process of extending this support programme, in conjunction with social partners, negotiating the application of REACT Community funds with the National Government

The ongoing negotiation process will increase the allocation of the APOIAR.PT Açores Programme by 25%. It aims to address the current pandemic period, partially covering the years 2021 and 2022, until the stabilisation of the current public health situation and the subsequent recovery of economic activity.    

According to the Regional Secretariat for Finance, Planning and Public Administration, it will be possible to continue the success achieved with APOIAR.PT Açores, a programme recognised for its simplicity and effectiveness.    

This is a programme in which applications are submitted via electronic form, ensuring speed, rigour and transparency, through a process without paperwork. It uses pre-existing information in coordination with the data reported to the Tax and Customs Authority.    

Through this measure, support amounting to 38 million Euros has already been injected into the economy of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in the form of a non-refundable subsidy. Overall, more than 5,500 operations have been approved, which have contributed to the maintenance of economic confidence, employment and business competitiveness.
 
The APOIAR.PT Açores programme is a comprehensive regional programme that supports the business sector by offsetting the loss of turnover resulting from the reduction of activity due to the covid-19 pandemic.
 
This programme is already in its fifth edition. It has managed to successfully mitigate turnover losses from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, as well as the operating costs for the year 2020, covering a wide range of economic activities.
