12 new positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the Azores, with eight on São Miguel, three on Terceira, and one on Pico , arising from 856 tests carried out in reference laboratories.

On São Miguel, all cases correspond to community transmission.
On Terceira, two of the new cases belong to a pre-existent primary local transmission chain. Another positive case, whose origin is to be appraised, has started a new transmission chain.
On Pico, a new positive case concerns the pre-existent local transmission chain.
Hospitalizations:
As of today, three patients are hospitalized: two in Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, in Ponta Delgada, and one in Santo Espírito Hospital, in Angra do Heroísmo. None of them is in Intensive Care Unit.
Local transmission chains:
As of today, there are seven active primary local transmission chains in the archipelago: four on Terceira, one on Pico, one shared between Pico and Terceira , and one on Faial. To date, 240 have been extinguished. There are 161 people under active surveillance today.

Current situation:
Currently, there are 114 active positive cases in the archipelago, with 72 on São Miguel island, 21 on Pico island, 18 on Terceira island, and three on Faial island.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,831 positive cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Azores, 8,502 people have recovered from the disease, 42 died, 94 left the archipelago and 79 provided evidence of previous cure. To date, 688,100 tests have been carried out for SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19 disease.
From 31 December 2020 to 6 September, 170,146 people in the Azores have been vaccinated with the first dose (71,9 per cent) and 177,122 with complete vaccination (74,8 per cent), within the Regional Vaccination Plan.
