48 new cases of covid-19 were diagnosed in the Azores in the last 24 hours, all on the island of São Miguel, 42 within a context of community transmission and six related to travellers: two residents, who tested positive on the 6th and 12th day, and four non-residents, who all tested positive on the 6th day. A total of 2,393 tests were carried out in the regional laboratories of reference in the past 24 hours.
The municipality of Vila Franca do Campo registered 24 cases: 15 in São Miguel, three in São Pedro, three in Ponta Garça, two in Ribeira Seca and one in Água de Alto. The municipality of Ponta Delgada registered 14 new cases: four in Livramento, two in São Roque, two in Arrifes, two in Fajã de Baixo, two in São Pedro, one in Covoada and one in Santa Clara.
In turn, six new cases were reported in the municipality of Nordeste: three in Santana, one in Achada, one in Nordeste and one in São Pedro de Nordestinho. Two new cases were diagnosed in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, one in Santa Bárbara and another in Lomba de São Pedro. The municipality of Lagoa also registers two new cases, both in Santa Cruz.
In the same period, six recoveries were registered on the island of São Miguel, all in the municipality of Ponta Delgada: three in São Vicente Ferreira, two in São José, one in São Pedro and one in Feteiras.
A total of five patients remain hospitalised, all at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, in Ponta Delgada, with two in intensive care.
As of today, the Region registers 168 active positive cases: 167 on the island of São Miguel (81 in Ponta Delgada, 39 in Vila Franca do Campo, 30 in Nordeste, nine in Ribeira Grande, six in Lagoa and two in Povoação) and one on the island of Santa Maria in the parish of Santa Bárbara, municipality of Vila do Porto. There are 939 active surveillance cases.
On the island of São Miguel, the municipalities of Lagoa, Povoação and Ribeira Grande are at Very Low Risk. In turn, the municipality of Ponta Delgada is at Medium-High Risk and the municipality of Nordeste is at High Risk. The municipality of Vila Franca do Campo will be considered High Risk as of 12 am, Thursday, April 8.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,295 positive cases of covid-19 have been diagnosed in the Azores, with 3,989 people recovering from the disease. There were 30 deaths, 67 people who left the archipelago and 41 cases with a history of previous cure. A total of 199 local transmission chains have been extinguished.
To date, 403,433 screening tests for covid-19 have been carried out in the Azores. From last December 31 to April 6, 51,756 people aged 15 or over were vaccinated in the archipelago (34,832 received the first dose and 16.924 the second dose), as part of the first phase of the Regional Vaccination Plan.
