The Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government, through the Regional Directorate for Science, Innovation and Development (DRCID), has launched the “Azores Science” portal with the aim of centralising, promoting and making knowledge about science, innovation and development more accessible in the Region.

The new platform enhances the visibility of the regional scientific ecosystem and stimulates the sharing of knowledge among researchers, institutions, businesses, students and the general public, contributing to scientific progress and the promotion of scientific literacy in the Azores.

As such, it brings together information on the regional research, development and innovation community, including the institutions, bodies and specialised infrastructures that make up the regional scientific system, such as the science and technology parks of the Azores.

It also includes information on the relevant legislation, as well as on existing initiatives, projects, services, events, training courses and funding opportunities. Another highlight of the platform is the access to available scientific calls for proposals and consolidated information regarding the Azores RIS3 Strategy 2022–2027.

For the Vice-President of the Government, “this is an essential step towards strengthening scientific communication in the Azores and creating opportunities for collaboration.”

The platform “was designed to serve the entire scientific community and, simultaneously, bring Azoreans closer to the research being carried out in the archipelago,” he stressed.

Artur Lima also emphasised that the portal “replaces the previous digital presence of DRCID, making it more modern, accessible and functional, thus meeting the current needs of the scientific community.”

With the launch of “Azores Science,” the Regional Government reiterates its commitment to science that is more accessible, transparent and closer to Azorean citizens, providing the Region with a modern portal aligned with the needs of the regional scientific ecosystem.
