The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, highlighted the continuing downward trend in Social Integration Income (RSI) figures in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, according to the latest data for February 2026.

According to the data compiled, there were a total of 2,329 households and 5,298 RSI beneficiaries in the Region as of February 2026.

Compared to the previous month, there was a decrease of 44 households and 56 beneficiaries, confirming the sustained downward trend in this social support.

In a year-on-year comparison between February 2025 and February 2026, there was a significant decrease of 1,219 beneficiaries, corresponding to a fall of 18.7%.

According to Mónica Seidi, “the trend in these indicators shows a consistent reduction in situations of greater social vulnerability, reflecting the ongoing work of supporting families and promoting their active integration into society.”

Between 2022 and 2025, 1,272 investigation cases were opened, with 840 of these revealing irregular situations, mainly involving omissions or alterations to income, changes in household composition, failure to comply with obligations towards the Training and Employment Centre, or failure to report after being notified.

The government official emphasised that these results also reflect the strengthening of mechanisms for monitoring and supervising social benefits, ensuring that the RSI reaches those who truly need it.
