José Manuel Bolieiro received Representative of the National Government for the Azores at farewell audience

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, received today the Representative of the National Government for the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Ambassador Pedro Catarino, at the Capitães-Generais Palace in Angra do Heroísmo, for a farewell audience.
The head of the Azorean Government highlighted, both personally and institutionally, Pedro Catarino's performance during his terms of office, emphasising his character, experience and in-depth knowledge of democratic institutions.
“Ambassador Pedro Catarino has always demonstrated a deep understanding of the value of Portuguese democracy, politics, and the prestige of our country’s democratic institutions,” stated the President of the Government.
José Manuel Bolieiro also highlighted his willingness to foster good relations with the institutions, marked by close cooperation and mutual respect.
“He has always been open to exemplary institutional relations, fostering close ties and mutual respect among institutions,” he pointed out.
The government official also praised Pedro Catarino for his interpretation and performance of the role entrusted to him, noting that, during his term of office, he contributed to enhancing the political autonomy of the Azores.
“I often felt that this mission was carried out with profound respect for the political autonomy of the Azores and for the Azorean people, whilst also recognising the Region’s geopolitical and geostrategic role within the national context,” he said.
Therefore, José Manuel Bolieiro expressed his gratitude for the service rendered, highlighting the Ambassador’s contribution to Portugal, the Portuguese Republic and Azorean autonomy.
“I thank him, commend him and praise him for the service he has rendered to Portugal, the Portuguese Republic and the Azores,” he concluded, wishing Ambassador Pedro Catarino “good health and every success for the years to come."
