The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, announced today the opening of an international tender for the acquisition of X-ray equipment for the Corvo Island Health Unit (USIC), improving the diagnostic capacity and quality of care provided to the island's population.
This procedure includes the supply, installation and maintenance of X-ray equipment for the Corvo Island Health Unit - under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), resilience dimension, Measure 3, RE-C01-i11-RAA investment, Modernisation and Upgrading of the Regional Health Service (SRS).
The current X-ray equipment at USIC, which dates back to 2010, was in urgent need of replacement, requiring its upgrading with more modern and efficient technology.
Mónica Seidi highlighted the increased investment in USIC, under the RRP, totalling over €328,000.
This investment is divided into two strategic areas: €65,000 allocated to the development of the Digital Hospital, strengthening technological capacity, care efficiency and proximity to users through innovative digital solutions, and €263,000 invested in the modernisation and refurbishment of the SRS, including the purchase of an electric vehicle and X-ray equipment.
It should also be noted that the public tender for the purchase of an electric vehicle has already been published, aiming to promote sustainability and enhance home care and logistics.
The Regional Secretary emphasised that "this investment reflects the Azorean Government's commitment to territorial cohesion and equitable access to healthcare, even on islands without a hospital."
The Regional Government, therefore, guarantees better conditions for professionals and users, consolidating healthcare provision on the island of Corvo and reaffirming its commitment to providing all islands with more and better equipment.
