Azorean Diaspora Advisers take office on Azores Day

The Azorean Diaspora Advisers elected in May for the 2025-2029 term will be sworn in next Monday, Azores Day. The swearing-in will be conferred by the President of the Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, at a virtual ceremony scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The 17 advisers elected by the Azorean communities of Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, the United States of America, Uruguay, mainland Portugal and the Rest of the World will participate in this online event, following the voting held from May 20 to 24 via the Azoreans in the World digital platform.
The new Azorean diaspora advisers are Ricardo Ambrósio (Bermuda), Marcos Borba (Rio de Janeiro), Régis Gomes (Rio Grande do Sul), Marcos Pinheiro (Santa Catarina), António Arruda (São Paulo), Vânia Silva (Remaining States of Brazil), Esmeralda Cabral (British Columbia), Paulo Cabral (Manitoba), Matthew Correia (Ontario), Carlos Almeida (Remaining Provinces of Canada), Zeto Carvalho (California), Danny de Melo (Massachusetts), David Pimentel and Katherine Soares (Remaining U.S. States), Sofia Ruiz (Uruguay), Rui Silva (Mainland Portugal and Madeira) and Tiago Domingues (Rest of the World).
Each adviser will be invited to take their oath and sign the instrument of investiture that officially makes them a member of the Azorean Diaspora Council for the next four years.
The President of the Government, who is presiding over the ceremony, will be accompanied by the Regional Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, Paulo Estevão, and the Regional Director for the Communities, José Andrade.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Regional Government's YouTube channel and the "Azorean Communities" Facebook page.
The Azorean Diaspora Council is an advisory body to the Regional Government. It was created in 2019 and formally established in 2021 with the aim of ensuring the participation and consultation of Azorean communities through their elected representatives.
