The application period for the "Digital Youth" programme, created by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Regional Directorate for Youth, is open until June 30.

Applications must be submitted by youth associations, similar associations and other associations with activity plans geared towards young people on the Youth Portal at juventude.azores.gov.pt.

The application phase for measure 1 of the programme aims to support these associations in purchasing laptops, software and services to promote short-term training in digital skills with a view to creating training spaces at their headquarters.

Support is granted in the form of co-financing for 95% of purchases, up to a maximum of 8,100 Euros per association with an approved project, which will allow, for example, the purchase of up to a maximum of 10 laptops at a cost of up to 750 euros each.

The "Digital Youth" programme was presented by Maria João Carreiro, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment, on Youth Associations Day, which is marked on April 30.

She explained the importance of the programme at the celebration, held at Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, in Ribeira Grande, as part of the 2nd edition of "Associations Talks."

"This programme will make an important contribution to opening up the headquarters of youth associations to more young people, who can and should find spaces to exercise citizenship, socialise and learn in areas such as digital technologies. They are also a challenge in terms of good democratic living as well as responsible, plural and inclusive participation," she said.

In addition to measure 1, the "Digital Youth" programme includes other support, namely to fund short-term training units in digital skills for young people.

In this case, support under measure 2 is allocated for each hour of training, ranging between 40 and 50 Euros, up to a maximum of 2,500.00 Euros. As for the costs of computer consumables, support services, maintenance or other essentials for carrying out the training, the support can reach a maximum amount of 250 Euros.

The application period for measure 2 of "Digital Youth" will be determined by an Order issued by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment to be published in the Official Journal after the current application period for measure 1 has ended.

In both measures, support from "Digital Youth" can total 10,850.00 Euros per association.
