The Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security presided over the signing of the third addendum to the 2023-2024 Cooperation Agreement for the Social and Solidarity Sector, together with URIPSSA - Regional Union of Private Social Solidarity Institutions of the Azores and URMA - Regional Union of Misericórdias of the Azores (charities).

The addendum concerns an extraordinary contribution of €1,250,00.00 aimed at minimising the effects of inflation, additional operating expenses and cash flow difficulties, which will be distributed among the institutions providing social responses.

For the first time in the Region, the standard daycare fee will be increased for children with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 60%. This increase will be set at 60%.

The extraordinary contribution to the Residential Home, Day Centre and Home Support Service will correspond to a 3.5% increase in the monthly financial contribution. In the case of the Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), the increase corresponds to 3.1% of the monthly financial contribution.

In every case, the contribution takes effect between 1 January and December 31, 2024, and will be allocated as early as January this year.

"We have already shown total openness and willingness to review the standard value of social responses in the region to bring greater stability to the institutions. This is another example of the Regional Government fulfilling its commitments and putting people first, and always those who need the most protection," stressed Mónica Seidi.
