The Azores have just received another tourism award, this time from "Publituris," the renowned Portuguese magazine: the Region is the "Best National Tourism Region," which, for the Regional Secretary for Tourism, "is a source of great pride.
The Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2024 took place this Thursday evening in the city of Porto, an event attended by more than 400 people. The award for the Azores was received by the Regional Director for Tourism, Rosa Costa.
"The Regional Government is extremely proud to receive this award from Publituris, which, like all the others, confirms the work well done, the continuous improvement of tourism in the Azores, innovation and services of excellence to ensure that travellers enjoy unique experiences on our islands," said Berta Cabral.
The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures noted the fact that the Azores have now been recognised as the Best National Tourism Region "is prestigious and encourages us to do even more and better to boost this sector, which is proving to be increasingly important for the Azorean economy."
In late June, the Azores received the "Revelation Destination - Azores Routes" award from AHRESP (Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Services of Portugal).
The Region was chosen by the World Travel Awards as the "Best Adventure Tourism Destination in Europe 2024" and received the Quality Coast award from Green Destinations, which honours coastal environmental quality with a view to sustainable tourism.
In 2023, the Azores were classified by the World TravelAwards as the "Best Adventure Destination in the World," after three consecutive years as the "Best Adventure Destination in Europe" (2020, 2021 and 2022).
Berta Cabral defended that "all these awards confer great prestige on the Region and validate the work that has been done to place the Azores at the highest levels of tourism worldwide as a unique destination, all year round and on all islands."
