Presidência do Governo Regional
The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, reiterated today, on the second day of the statutory visit to the island of São Jorge, that "cooperation" between the Government and local authorities is "essential" for the development of the Region and its people.
Speaking in Calheta, São Jorge, at the end of a meeting with the mayor, Décio Pereira, José Manuel Bolieiro listed some of the topics discussed with the mayor, such as the seafront project or the "consolidation" of the Calheta Health Centre, which is "essential for complementarity" in the Regional Health Service.
"We are not going to reduce the number of services, regardless of demand," said the President of the Government.
In the environmental area, "Calheta and São Jorge are a reference for the world," with an "authentic offer that must be preserved, in "permanent and vigilant cooperation," namely regarding the Caldeira de Santo Cristo.
The statutory visit to São Jorge, which ends Wednesday, will also include several initiatives, including the traditional meeting of the Island Council and events with different members of the Regional Government.
