92 dwellings in Nascer do Sol neighbourhood for middle-class families, announces Artur Lima
Vice-Presidência do Governo Regional
The Vice-President of the Regional Government, Artur Lima, announced today in Praia da Vitória that a public tender will be launched in the "coming days" to draw up the plans for the Nascer do Sol neighbourhood with a base price of 72 thousand Euros plus VAT, with a view to "renovating 92 houses."
"This is a major investment in the municipality of Praia da Vitória in terms of housing provision under the lease with purchase option scheme. There are 92 dwellings for middle-class families on Terceira Island, an investment of about five million Euros financed by the RRP," he said.
"We expect to launch the procedure for the projects in the coming days." We expect to launch the works contract in the "first half of 2024," he said.
As for the completion of the project, Artur Lima pointed out that the "priority" is to "complete the renovation of the 92 dwellings by December 2025."
Following his visit to the Nascer do Sol neighbourhood, the government official pointed out that the land development project had already been completed and that the definitive registration of the plots owned by the Region is currently underway.
With regard to works in the neighbourhood, Artur Lima mentioned that, firstly, it will be necessary to "adapt energy efficiency, an RRP requirement" and, secondly, to "adapt the entire utilities system" in order to "comply with the provision of national legislation."
"It is necessary to adapt the entire housing development to national legislation so that the tendering procedures for the provision of housing under the lease with purchase option scheme can then proceed," he continued.
According to Artur Lima, the Regional Government intends to increase the Region's public housing stock on the island of Terceira and, thus, address the housing shortage on this island.
On the occasion, the Vice-President of the Government highlighted the "enormous potential" of the former American school, a "very good infrastructure that will eventually accommodate the development of projects to establish human resources in the area of science and technology."
