Applications for Support Scheme for the Purchase of Legumes now open - Communication

The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Rural Development informs that applications to support the purchase of legume seeds to improve pastures for animal feed have been open since September 1.

This measure falls within the goals of promoting self-sufficiency in animal feed, reducing the use of pesticides, fertilisers and antimicrobial agents, promoting the biological diversity of plant and animal genetic resources, preserving soil and water, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration.

This support is available to individual or collective farmers who have purchased certified legume seeds to improve pastures for animal feed and who meet the conditions set out in Government Council Resolution no.59/2021 of March 23, namely to be legally registered; to have their tax and social security situation settled; to comply with the legal conditions deemed necessary for the exercise their activity, namely in terms of licensing and adequate accounting. 

Farmers should submit the application form and the required documents via the https://gestpdr.azores.gov.pt/ portal or, alternatively, at their local agricultural development office. 

The support to be granted for this measure in 2023 is set at 30 thousand Euros. This expenditure falls within the Investment Plan of the Regional Directorate for Agriculture.
