The Regional Government informs that the third of four instalments under the protocol signed with the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (AMRAA) regarding the amounts of income tax revenue not transferred in 2009 and 2010, by previous governments, has already been transferred to Azorean municipalities.

The payment of 1.74 million Euros has now been made, corresponding to the third of four instalments which, in total, will amount to around 5.48 million Euros.

In 2021 and 2022, one million Euros were processed for each year. The remaining 1.74 million Euros will be processed in 2024.

The settlement of these sums represents a financial effort that favours respect and institutional loyalty towards municipalities and parishes.

The XIII Government of the Azores wishes, from the outset, to make local authorities a true partner in the development of the Region.

The agreement ensuring that Azorean municipalities will receive, until 2024, the income due to them, which was denied and never paid, is an example of the close cooperation between the Government and local authorities.

It should be recalled that the Regional Directorate for Cooperation with Local Government was created within the current organisational structure of the Regional Government.
