Regional Land Transport Fund
Competences:
The Regional Land Transport Fund - FRTT, I.P.R.A. has the following responsibilities:
a) Collaborate in the definition and implementation of the policies supporting land transport;
b) Provide financial support to public passenger transport companies operating in the Region under the incentive systems for the renovation and replacement of their fleets and the acquisition of new vehicles, provided that the service is considered of public interest, as well as for the acquisition of equipment deemed necessary for the operation of that service;
c) Provide direct financial support, through reimbursable or non-repayable subsidies, to land transport companies operating in the Region;
d) Grant non-repayable subsidies in advance under programmes aimed at supporting land transport;
e) Bear, either fully or partially, the financial costs incurred with loans taken out by land transport companies with a view to remodelling, replacing or acquiring new vehicles;
f) Bear the costs arising from the approval of tariffs involving a social component;
g) Submit and monitor applications for Community programmes supporting land transport;
h) Provide guarantees for the financing operations of public passenger transport companies with potential for generating investments;
i) Cover the costs of installing and repairing vertical road signs and road surface markings in the regional road network as well as those incurred with the repair and restoration of existing infrastructures in the regional road network;
j) Cooperate with other entities, public or private, and establish public-private partnerships in the area of land transport, namely with regard to road prevention and the construction and rehabilitation of important road infrastructures for the population;
l) Promote and financially support the conduction of studies within the scope of its competences;
m) Ensure the implementation of any other measures aimed at supporting land transport and transport companies as determined by higher decision-making levels.
