The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, signed today a cooperation protocol with ANAFRE - National Association of Parishes to improve the employability of long-term unemployed in vulnerable situations and young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
According to Maria João Carreiro, this cooperation will be developed from the new Vocational and Professional Guidance Office (GOVP), recently created by the Azorean Government to promote "personalised responses for the resolution of individual employment problems."
"This protocol is an asset that should be leveraged. Due to their proximity to the population, parish councils have an in-depth knowledge of unemployment situations that the GOVP wants to identify and respond to, that is, the unemployed with greater difficulties in accessing the labour market," she explained, praising the "promptness of ANAFRE to integrate this project" that is a pact for employability.
The Regional Secretary highlighted that "this cooperation creates conditions so that the unemployed who go to a parish council to ask for help to find a job may have the GOVP as a response, that is, they will opportunities to improve their labour situation."
As explained by the government official, the GOVP is a "mobile and proximity office" that "reaches out to the unemployed in parishes to guide them, according to the skills and training they have acquired, to the labour market and to the activity sectors where there are labour needs."
The intervention begins with the definition of a Personal Employment Plan, followed by an intervention according to the profile of the unemployed (high, medium or low employability). It may involve immediate job placement, training, improvement of skills or the intervention of an intersectoral and multidisciplinary team.
In view of the increase in employment and the sustained reduction of unemployment in the Region, which reached historic lows last year, "the GOVP is committed to ensuring that no Azorean is left without a response in terms of training and employment, empowering them to build life projects," said Maria João Carreiro.
