RTP/Açores is one of the strongest pillars of regional development, says President of the Government - Communication

The President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, received on Tuesday the Director of RTP/Açores, Rui Goulart, at an audience, where he took the opportunity to define this television station as "one of the strongest pillars of the development of autonomy" in the Region.

"RTP is one of the strongest pillars of the development of autonomy in the Azores as well as of regional unity and communication potentialities, covering each of the nine islands, the Region as a whole and the interaction with our diaspora," the President said, speaking at the Sant'Ana Palace.

Although the management of RTP/Açores falls under the State's responsibility, it is in the interest of the Azores and the Azoreans to have a powerful, competent, present and diligent regional broadcaster," said José Manuel Bolieiro.

The government bodies of the Azores should "take responsibility" in supporting RTP/Açores, always maintaining its editorial autonomy, added the President of the Government. In this context, he recalled the "tripartite structure of its functional presence," with offices on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira and Faial, along with contents and correspondents on all nine islands.

The audience took place a few months after the appointment of Rui Goulart as Director of the RTP/Açores. This appointment "confirms the confidence" of the regional broadcaster in the "work done and the competence" demonstrated by this professional, stated the President of the Government.
