The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, promotes the Emprego.Azores initiative during May on three islands of the archipelago. The designation of this initiative is also associated with the new Internet platform created to promote the direct matching between job opportunities and the search for jobs, encouraging a truly flexible and modern regional labour market.

The event will be launched on the island of São Miguel at the Agricultural Association Pavilion, municipality of Ribeira Grande, on May 3 and runs until May 5. It will be then presented on the island of Pico at the Madalena Municipal Library on May 18 and 19, followed by a final presentation on the island of Terceira at the Angra do Heroísmo Cultural and Conference Centre on May 30 and 31.

Under the motto "from vocational training to the labour market," the event has already confirmed the participation of 40 entities, including 25 companies or corporate groups. This project is developed by the Regional Directorate for Vocational Training and Employment.

At the presentation of this initiative, held today, the Regional Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment stressed that the implementation of Emprego.Azores falls "within the strategy defined for Vocational Training and Employment. This is already underway and will be decisive to leverage the Region's social and economic recovery."

“We believe and will continue to focus on disseminating and promoting initiatives that can directly bring together and deepen the interaction between businesses, public authorities and vocational schools and those looking for a first or new job,” he added.

According to the government official, the main purpose of Emprego.Azores "is to bring job opportunities closer to those looking for work, with special emphasis dedicated to young Azoreans. It is aimed at "unemployed young people enrolled in basic education (9th grade), secondary school and university."

The initiative is focused on the areas of employment, vocational training and entrepreneurship. It includes several spaces designed to generate innovative dynamics in this type of event, namely demonstrations, workshops and lectures promoting the dignity of occupations as well as the available job opportunities.

The Regional Secretary highlighted the positive results regarding vocational training and employment, following the measures created and implemented by the Regional Government in the meantime. He also stated that the initiative, held on the islands of São Miguel, Pico and Terceira, "will also contribute to the improvement of vocational training and, accordingly, to the employability of Azoreans."

On the occasion, Duarte Freitas also presented the new portal, Emprego.Azores.gov.pt, considering it a very important tool to promote the direct adjustment between job opportunities and the search for jobs, encouraging a truly flexible and modern regional labour market.

Moreover, the Regional Secretary stated that the new portal is part of a comprehensive process towards digitalisation and simplification of procedures at the service of citizens and businesses under development. According to him, "the new platform, which will be in constant evolution, will congregate all information relating to Employment and Vocational Training."

Besides the aggregation of information, there will also be a space available for those looking for a job or training and who intend to register at the Regional Centre for Qualification and Employment.
