The Autonomous Region of the Azores, represented by the Regional Administrative and Transparency Inspectorate (IRAT), has attended the 37th Meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Internal Control System of the State Financial Administration (SCI), which was recently held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Lisbon. 

Francisco Lima, Regional Inspector, who attended the event, explained that the meeting "marked the resumption of the Council's activities." It has, among others, the mission to "consolidate harmonised control methodologies" as well as to "establish minimum quality criteria for the national internal control system, which will ensure a high level of protection for the State's financial interests. 

The 37th meeting of the SCI Coordinating Council was attended by the President of the Court of Auditors, José F.F. Tavares, the Director-General of the Budget, Mário Monteiro, and the President of the Institute for Financial Management of Social Security, Teresa Fernandes. 

The SCI Coordinating Council is chaired by the Inspector-General of Finance, António Ferreira dos Santos, and comprises representatives of all sectoral and regional internal control entities of the State Financial Administration, including IRAT.

IRAT, which includes the Corruption Prevention and Transparency Office, created by the XIII Government of the Azores, is the strategic control, audit and inspection service of the Region's direct and indirect administration. It is also responsible for coordinating the area of transparency, prevention, and the fight against corruption.
