The Regional Secretary for Culture, Science and Digital Transition, through the Regional Directorate of Culture, through the Museum of Horta promotes craft workshops entitled "Crazy Patchworks" from March 31. This initiative is organised in partnership with the Amigos do Farol Association regarding the contact with the artisans of Faial Island and the provision of volunteers.

Aimed at people with free time or who are retired, this initiative aims to organise a monthly craft workshop lasting about three hours for groups of eight to 12 people, whose difficulty level will vary depending on the type of work to be carried out.

The "crazy patchworks" designate a technique that, traditionally, is used in the production of household textiles. It consists of the reuse of fabric scraps, randomly arranged on a larger surface and fixed with colourful thread stitches, creating abstract patterns.

The first initiative will be carried out in two sessions, on the afternoons of March 31 and April 7, during which an oven mitt will be made.

There will be a fee of three Euros for each session and reservations can be made at the email [email protected] or by telephone 292 202 576.

The RegionalDirectorate for Culture informs that these and other events are available for consultation in the Cultural Agenda of the Azores Culture Portal at the following email address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
