Criteria for awarding the Azores Brand seal to be revised
Secretaria Regional da Agricultura e Alimentação
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food has set up a Working Group with the aim of reformulating the certification process for awarding the Azores Brand seal.
This Working Group will comprise representatives from the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, the Regional Secretariat for Finance, Planning and Public Administration, the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, and the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment.
As part of the work to be carried out, the Working Group must draw up a list of relevant legal or regulatory changes required, draw up a proposal to change the certification of the Azores Brand and draw up a proposal for implementing the planned changes.
This Group will be provided with all the technical, logistical and administrative support deemed necessary for its operation by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, with a view to the proper implementation and transparency of the Azores Brand.
Various organisations will be invited to collaborate in this endeavour, such as the Azores Agricultural Federation, the regional chambers of commerce and the Fisheries Federation, among others.
Since 2015, the Azores Brand has been helping to create a territorial identity among the public, allowing the promotion of the Autonomous Region of the Azores to be easily perceived in its various aspects.
After a decade of the project's existence, the marked growth both in seal awarding and the number of companies that have joined is to be commended. It should be noted that the Azores Brand encompasses products in various categories, services and establishments.
At the moment, 308 companies are members of the Azores Brand and more than 8,000 seals have been awarded.
"After ten years of the Azores Brand's existence, this is the moment to assess what has been done so far and understand how we can enhance and better establish Azorean products with a stronger identity," stressed António Ventura, the Regional Secretary responsible for this project.
