The Presidency of the Government of the Azores joins in the celebration of Our Lady of the Conception Day, the popular "Dia das Montras" (Window Shops Day), which takes place on December 8, this Sunday, by opening the doors of the Conceição  Palace in Ponta Delgada to the public.

This historic building, a former women's convent, dates back to the 17th century. After the dissolution of the religious orders in 1832, it housed various public services, including the Court of Appeal, the Civil Government and the General Council of the Autonomous District of Ponta Delgada. It is currently the headquarters of the Regional Government of the Azores.

The guided tours will take place between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes each. Each tour will be for a maximum of 30 people and will be organised on a first-come, first-served basis.

Along with the upper choir, the tour will include the Council of Government room, the main hall, the dining room, and the audience room. This year, exceptionally, it also features the Carlos Machado Museum's Azorean Autonomy Centre and the temporary exhibition entitled “ Tribute to Mota Amaral: on the 50th anniversary of April 25,” which can be visited in the low choir.

Access will be via the main door of the palace located in Rua da Conceição ( in front of Largo Mártires da Pátria).
